Special Invitation to Family/Guests

We recognize that family and guests play an important role in college success and we invite parents and guests to attend Setting Sail with their student. A family/guest program will run concurrently with Day One of the student program and features informational sessions, meetings with administrators and faculty, and an introduction to services especially designed for family members of Christopher Newport students.

On Day Two of Setting Sail, family/guest members are invited to attend a session to talk about the transition to college with members of the Student Affairs staff and with student Crew Leaders. They may also participate in a variety of activities; take care of campus needs; or enjoy the many recreational and cultural opportunities available in the Hampton Roads area. Please note, family members cannot attend or participate in the student’s advising session held on Day Two.

Infants and Younger Children
Because Setting Sail is designed for high school graduates and adults, it is suggested that infants and younger children not attend Setting Sail, as day care services are not provided. Additionally, all registered guest must be 18 or older or accompanied by a parent/ guardian.
