Setting Sail Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the $250 fee for Setting Sail Orientation cover?
The $250 fee covers the student expenses associated with both the summer Setting Sail and Welcome Week programs. The primary cost is the 5 nights of lodging and the 6.5 days of food. (These costs are not built into the room and board fees contracted for the academic year.) The funds also cover some nationally known speakers, social events and general operational expenses.

2) Do my parents/guests have to pay the $50 guest fee?
If parents or guests will be attending the Setting Sail program, a $50.00 fee is assessed. This fee covers program costs and meals. (The fee is $50 PER guest.) Parents/guests must also register through the online system.

3) Do you provide accommodations during these days/nights?
Students will be housed on campus as part of the Setting Sail program.
On-campus Lodging for guests is offered in the residence halls at a cost of $28 per guest per night. About half of our parent/ guests choose this option. Hotels in the area are also available, although their cost (and amenities) is greater than what we offer. (For a list of hotels in the area, please visit: http://about.cnu.edu/visitingCampus/accommodations.cfm )

4) When do I sign up for a Setting Sail session?
The online Setting Sail reservation system is “live” beginning 9 a.m., April 1st. All first-year students intending on enrolling for the 2009-2010 academic year must complete their registration for Setting Sail online and may do so after April 1st.
