Jerry Roeder is originally from New York State. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations at Syracuse University and a Master's Degree in Education at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire.
He became the Director of Residence Life at Christopher Newport University in 2001 after working several years with the Residence Life program at The College of William and Mary. As the Director of Residence Life at CNU, Jerry is responsible for the professional and student staff who manage the "people and personalities" living in the residence halls. Residence Life educates students outside the classroom by creating an environment where personal growth and development occurs as life skills and lessons are learned.

Ryan came to Christopher Newport University in August 2003 as the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Programming & Community Development. In this role, he coordinated the programmatic efforts of CNU RAs in all six residential areas. Currently, Ryan is the Associate Director of Residence Life and continues to take the lead on departmental initiatives related to programming, staff recruitment, staff selection and staff training.
Ryan received both his undergraduate (B.A., English) and graduate (MSEd, Higher Education Administration) degrees from Old Dominion University. A native of Virginia, he makes his home in Norfolk with his wife, Eileen, and daughter, Riley Eden.

Eddie Seavers:

Eddie is beginning his third year at Christopher Newport University after arriving in June, 2005. After spending his first two years in Santoro Hall, he currently serves as the Hall Director for CNU Village, Warwick River Suites and the CNU Houses. In addition to his work at CNU, he is involved in the Newport News community by lending support to the Denbigh Marching Patriots of Denbigh High School and serving as an assistant softball coach for the Bantam Mets of the Denbigh Youth Baseball League. Prior to his arrival in Virginia, Eddie worked as a Graduate Resident Director at Clemson University in South Carolina while earning his Masters Degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Fairfield University in Connecticut, where he served as a Resident Assistant and worked with Student Activities and Office of Admissions.
A native of Ridgewood, New Jersey, Eddie is an avid sports fan who enjoys playing baseball, golf, soccer, disc golf, and ultimate frisbee. He is a founding member of the G (eriatric)-Unit intramural softball team comprised of Student Affairs professionals at CNU and also enjoys traveling, running, playing cards and following a number of sports teams including the New Jersey Devils, the NY Mets and the Chatam A's of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Adam arrived at CNU in June of 2006 and currently serves as the Hall Director for York River Hall, which is an all freshmen residence hall. He is a native of Virginia and likes to visit his old stomping ground of Chesapeake from time to time. Adam earned his degrees at Old Dominion University (B.S., Human Services Counseling) and Radford University (M.S. Counselor Education-Student Affairs Administration). Adam loves spending time with his beautiful wife, Christie, and enjoys visiting historical landmarks, playing the guitar, listening to 80's music, playing softball, walking and drinking coffee.

Brandi joined the Christopher Newport team at the end of June 2006, and is currently the James River Hall Director. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!), Brandi has spent the past seven years in southwest Virginia however, earning her Bachelors of Arts in 2004 for English, Creative Writing from Roanoke College, where she served as a Resident Advisor, and an active member of the student health organization. She followed up at Radford University earning a Masters of Science for Counselor Education with a concentration of Student Affairs Administration in 2006. Her two years at Radford were spent as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of the Dean of Students working with adjudication and off campus residential issues. Brandi also served as On-Site coordinator for the Pilot Street Community Learning Center for Refugees through an internship with Virginia Tech Service Learning Center. Outside of work Brandi spends her time appreciating anything Pittsburgh , enjoying life, reading, pursuing creative endeavors, community involvement, and playing a bit of ultimate Frisbee.

Shanika began working at CNU in June 2006. Born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, Shanika earned an Associate's degree in Liberal Arts from Piedmont Virginia Community College. She then transferred to Old Dominion University where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Occupational and Technical Studies in Fashion, with a minor in marketing. While a student at ODU, Shanika became a resident assistant—and it was this experience that helped spark her true passion for Student Affairs—particularly Residence Life. As a result, Shanika decided to pursue her Master's degree at Virginia Tech in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Program. During her two years there, Shanika served as both the Graduate Assistant for Theme Housing Programs, as well as a Graduate Hall Director for one of the larger residence halls on campus. Her research interests include Contemporary Legal Issues in Higher Education and Student Development Theory. In her free time Shanika mentors teens in a local youth group, and also enjoys singing, dancing, and learning about different cultures, places, and people.

Terry joined the CNU team in June 2007 and currently serves as the Santoro Hall Director. Originally from Rochester, NY, Terry has attended and worked at universities in New York, Ohio and North Carolina since 1998. He obtained Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Criminology as well as a Master's degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Niagara University. He then attended The University of Dayton where he earned a Master's degree in College Student Personnel. Terry recently moved from Charlotte, North Carolina where he served as a Residence Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life at UNC Charlotte. In his free time Terry likes to travel, read, cook and appreciate anything involving art and culture.

Originally from Alexandria, Krystal became a CNU Captain in June of 2007. Krystal serves as the Hall Director of the CNU & Barclay Apartments on East Campus, which are upper-class apartments. Krystal received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from James Madison University in 2005. She continued her education at JMU and went on to receive her Master of Education in College Student Personnel Administration from there in 2007. During her time at JMU she served as a resident advisor for three years as an undergraduate, and she served as a hall director for two years while in graduate school. When she is not working Krystal enjoys painting, baking, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.

Jocelyn was born and raised in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Jocelyn earned her Bachelor's Degree in English at Seton Hall University, located in South Orange, New Jersey. Jocelyn arrived at CNU in October of 2006 and currently serves as the Office Services Specialist for the Office of Residence Life and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. She provides administrative and organizational support for both departmental needs and the larger university community. In her spare time, Jocelyn enjoys many activities outside of the office, but she absolutely enjoys anything “sports” oriented.
