When is the registration deadline? |
Registration forms must be received by September 1, 2006, but it is best to register early. Events and special meals fill quickly. Late registrations are filled on a space-available basis. |
Can I register over the phone? |
We are not able to take registrations over the phone. You may fill out a registration form available online and mail it in with payment. |
What does the registration fee cover? |
| The fee covers all scheduled events except the MythBusters and the Sunday brunch. In addition, it covers the costs associated with registration and the event operation such as publications, nametags, maps, schedules, postage for the postcard and special event staffing. |
When will I get the confirmation of my registration? |
An email confirmation will be sent to you and your student once your registration has been processed. |
| We registered for Family Weekend, but now we can not attend. Can I get a refund? |
| No refunds will be issued after September 1, 2006. |
| When can I pick up my Family Weekend Packet? |
| Packets will be available for pick up between 8 am – 5 pm on Friday, September 8 in the foyer of the Student Union Ballroom. Your student may pick up your packet for you as long as he/she has a valid student ID. Packets are also available on Saturday from 8:30 am – 10 am in the foyer of the Student Union Ballroom. |
Will the packet contain my football and other event tickets? |
| Yes, the packet will contain your football/event tickets (if selected) and other important information such as a schedule and available dining options |
In what section will we be sitting during the Family Weekend football game? |
Tickets are general admission bleacher section or north end zone. |
Can I purchase just football tickets and not attend any other Family Weekend events? |
| Yes, you can, but you must contact the Freeman Center box office directly at (757) 594- 7880. |
Where can we park during Family Weekend? |
| Visitors are encouraged to park in the Ferguson Center Parking Deck located off of Avenue of the Arts. Parking is open during this weekend, but we can not guarantee parking spaces on main campus. |
Where can we stay when in the area? Which hotels are closest? |
A list of area hotels is provided on our web site with an indication of how far each is from campus. Many of the hotels sell out quickly, so we encourage you to make your reservations early. |
When should we plan to arrive? Do families stay the entire weekend? |
| Events start on Friday afternoon at 5 pm, with the majority of the activities occurring on Saturday. We encourage you to come on Friday to enjoy all the events we have to offer, but how long you stay is up to you. |
| We can only come to campus on Sunday. Can we just sign up for the Sunday Brunch? |
| Yes, you can. Please fill out the Brunch Only Registration Form and return it to Office of Student Activities, 1 University Place , Newport News , VA 23606 . All registrations must be received by September 1, 2006 and must have full payment included. Brunch fills up quickly so please send in your Brunch Only registration as soon as possible to guarantee your reservations. |
What happens if it rains? |
| The show must go on! Those events scheduled in outdoor locations will most likely have alternate locations. The football game takes place rain or shine in Pomoco Stadium. |
What is the attire for the Family Weekend events? |
| Casual attire is appropriate for all the festivities. We strongly encourage you to show your CNU pride by wearing blue and white, especially to the football game. CNU attire is available at our new CNU Bookstore located in the Student Union. |
Special Accommodations We have a family member in a wheelchair. Can we get around to all the events on campus?

| All events are held in handicapped-accessible areas and buildings. We are a pedestrian campus so you will need to walk from one event venue to another. If you have specific transportation issues, please contact our office at osl@cnu.edu . |
