CNU Resident Assistants

As the largest employer of students on-campus, the Office of Residence Life's 67 member RA staff comprises more than half of its approximate 125 member student staff. RAs are sophomores, juniors and seniors who have previously lived on-campus as residents and have demonstrated significant potential and ability in skill areas such as emergency response, programming, community development, administration and peer leadership. Every CNU RA must go through a rigorous three month long application process culminating in a six week long seminar series engaging them on basic RA skills and areas of responsibility.

RAs additionally train for two weeks prior to the start of classes in August and in the days prior to the start of classes in January. CNU's RAs are some of the most effective and highly awarded in the Commonwealth of Virginia and regularly represent CNU at state-wide conferences. CNU RAs represent the best of both student leadership and servant-leadership and represent virtually all student organizations and demographic backgrounds found among the residential body.

What RAs have to Say

I became an RA because my RA was such a big part of my life, I couldn't help but want to influence others the same way that she did to me. It's an awesome experience to be part of such a crucial time in someone's life: freshman year.
-- Deana Trail, York River RA

I wanted to be an RA because I wanted to help people get the most out of college. I wanted to be a resource and a friend to people I didn't know before I was at CNU.
-- Lindsey Simmons, Santoro Hall RA

I felt becoming an RA would help me to be more involved on campus and get to know variety of students that I would not have met otherwise.
-- Emily Zydiak, East Campus RA
